EIN Application Services
If you own an entity that is doing business in the US, then you will need an Employer Identification Number (EIN). An EIN is effectively the business equivalent of a Social Security Number (SSN) or ITIN, and an EIN application is made by completing IRS Form SS-4.
An EIN is used to identify a business in the US and you will need one if you meet any of the following criteria:
• You employ staff in the US
• You operate your business as a corporation or partnership
• You are making an entity classification (''check-the-box'') election on Form 8832 for US tax purposes
• You file employment, excise, or alcohol, tobacco and firearms tax returns
• You are involved with trusts, estates, real estate mortgage investment conduits, non-profit organisations, farmers' cooperatives, or plan
administrators
• You withhold taxes on income other than wages and paid to a non-resident alien
Unlike ITINs, an EIN can be applied for over the phone and are normally issued immediately by the IRS. If you would like us to assist you with obtaining an EIN, please contact us.
